DIMAPUR — Asserting that he is always ready to
help the tribal people in general, the Union Minister of State for Tribal
Affairs, Durgadas Uikey, has asked the people of Kiphire to meet him personally
whenever they come to Delhi or to contact him directly whenever there is any
grievance.
Uikey, who was on a two-day visit to Kiphire district on
January 13 and 14, made this statement during visit to a Food Processing Unit
(FPU) at Khingkular Azakeh in Amahator town on January 14. He stated that all
tribal whether from north, south, east or west have the same blood as brothers
and sisters, a DIPR report stated.
He informed that the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi,
is very concern for the development of the nation both in Agri. product and Non-Agri.
product like food processing unit and to promote SHGs for sustainable economy
in the country.
The union minister also shared his contact number as well as
his personal secretary phone number for better communication and progress of
the development activities initiated in the district.
On the same day, he also visited PM SHRI Government High
School Yangphi in Kiphire town and inspected the library and smart class rooms
under NagaED and KeyED and held a brief interaction with the teachers.
Uikey said, "A teacher is like a candle which burns
itself and gives light to others." He expressed gratitude to the teachers
for their dedication in educating the students.
The institution also submitted a proposal for improving the
school’s approach road to the union minister.
He also visited Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in
Kiphire town and advised the department concerned to set up a construction
committee to monitor the construction project for quality works and for early
completion of works.
The minister further directed the Planning department to
give timely update on the progress of the construction works to the district
administration.
Later, the minister visited the District Hospital in Kiphire
(DHK) and interacted with the doctors and medical staff.
On January 13, Uikey held a meeting with various leaders and
administrative officials at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s
office.
In the meeting, the DC of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, has
sought special consideration to the proposals submitted by Kiphire aspirational
district. He pointed out that no allocation of fund was extended from the
Ministry of Tribal Affairs for Kiphire aspirational district during the period
2023-2024 and 2024- 2025.
The superintendent of police, Kiphire, Chinese Chakhesang,
also apprised for establishment of a model women police station equipped with
modern facilities in Kiphire headquarters.
The minister reviewed progress of key developmental
initiatives and projects in the district as well as ongoing initiatives and
challenges in the development of tribal areas and to explore new avenues for
collaboration in the district.
On behalf of four tribes residing in Kiphire namely Sangtam,
Yimkhiung, Tikhir and Eastern Sumi, the United Sangtam Student's Conference
(USSC) and United Sangtam Student's Likhum Pumchi (USLP) submitted a memorandum
to the union minister of state.
