Union MoS Sukanta Majumdar reviewed DoNER and NEC projects, investment initiatives and the PM-DevINE-funded Manipur IT SEZ during his two-day visit to Manipur.

IMPHAL — Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Education, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, reviewed DoNER projects and investment initiatives with senior state government officials during his two-day visit to Manipur, which concluded on September 18.
“The discussions focused on the progress of ongoing projects, key investment initiatives, and measures to strengthen coordination for the effective and timely implementation of development programmes in the state,” Majumdar posted on X.
According to Planning Department officials, the Union MoS chaired a review meeting with the chief secretary and administrative secretaries of various line departments at the Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri, on the outskirts of Imphal, soon after his arrival on September 17.
The meeting reviewed the status of projects being implemented in Manipur under the Ministry of DoNER and the North Eastern Council (NEC), besides investment initiatives in the state.
Majumdar called for closer coordination between the state government and the ministry to ensure the speedy and effective implementation of ongoing schemes and projects.
Later in the evening, Majumdar visited Andro village in Imphal East district, where he attended the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan programme, “Aashirwad Ka Diya” (Lamp of Blessings), and interacted with villagers, local representatives and beneficiaries of DoNER schemes.
On the second and final day of his visit, Majumdar, accompanied by Statistical Adviser (MDoNER) Dharmvir Jha and Director of the Planning department Dr. RK Radhesana Devi, visited the PM-DevINE project site at Mantripukhri to review the development of infrastructure for the Processing Zone of the Manipur Information Technology Special Economic Zone (IT SEZ).
The project is envisioned as a key enabler of IT growth, entrepreneurship, investment and employment opportunities for the youth of Manipur.
During his visit, Majumdar also separately called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh in Imphal. Discussions during the meetings focused on developmental initiatives and ongoing projects, with emphasis on strengthening inter-governmental coordination for their timely implementation, besides other developmental and administrative matters concerning the state and the Northeast region.
Sharing photographs of his meeting with the Union MoS on X, the chief minister wrote, “We discussed various developmental initiatives and ongoing projects for the state.”
