Morung Express to hold debate contest

Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): As part of its ongoing initiative to catalyse conscientious action, The Morung Express has announced to organise the Morung Debate tentatively from August 16 to September 7 in Dimapur. The debate team informed that the purpose of the debate was to create a platform for healthy dialogue and competition where relevant topics on socio-economic, cultural, political and religious issues would be debated. It is aimed at encouraging young people to engage in a competitive and healthy dialogue where they share opinions on issue-based subjects that might impact the social discourse. Through the competition, The Morung Express sought to contribute in enabling a contemplative consciousness, developing young leadership and exploring new forms of praxis in engaging with the various challenges of the 21^st century. The debate would be a team-based event opened to individuals between the ages of 18-25 years. The debate would be comprised of 16 teams with five persons per team. Each team would have three speakers, a manager/ coach and one substitute speaker. It informed that registration forms are available at The Morung Express Office, Duncan Basti, Dimapur, which should be submitted at the same location. Winning team would receive cash of INR 50,000, while the runners-up would received cash of INR 30, 000, two semi finalists would receive cash of INR 10, 000, best speaker for and against the motion would receive cash of INR 5000 and INR 5000 for most promising team. It further informed that registration would be closed on July 31.
