DIMAPUR — The mortal remains of Lamnunthem Singson, a cabin crew member of Air India flight AI-171 that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12, were received at Dimapur Airport on Thursday.
A brief service was held before the body was taken to her hometown in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, for final rites.
The programme witnessed the presence of representatives from various organisations, including Kuki Union Dimapur, Kuki Youth & Students Union Dimapur, Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF), Western Naga Youth Forum, and former Member of Parliament Apok Jamir. The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, and the Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima also attended on behalf of the state government.
In a condolence message, the Chairman of Kuki Union Dimapur expressed sorrow over Singson’s untimely death and described her as a devoted daughter who lost her life while serving the nation.
Naga Council Dimapur General Secretary LK Peter Anal noted that her family had been displaced due to the recent ethnic conflict in Manipur and now resides in a temporary shelter in Kangpokpi. Due to security concerns, the transportation of her remains was rerouted through Dimapur instead of Imphal, he said.
Other condolence messages were delivered by representatives of the Kuki Youth & Students Union Dimapur, DDCF, Apok Jamir, and Western Naga Youth Forum.
Family members also conveyed their appreciation to the government and all who attended the service for showing solidarity during their time of grief.
