Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): After four and half months of early morning football, the 4th edition of the Morning premier League (MPL) will conclude on June 23rd with All Blacks needing a draw over MRH Sunrisers to surpass the current league leaders Ziekezou Seniors to become the champions of MPL2018.
MPL which began on the February 5 this year saw some exciting and intense football with all the teams competing for the coveted title. GeThemGo FC erstwhile known as PowerComm FC who are the defending champions have to settle for the 6th place. Silver White and Mrh.Sunrisers are the two bottom teams relegated from this year’s MPL, an update from the organisers informed on Thrusday.
The final day of the league on Saturday, June 23 will see a closing ceremony at Seikhazou Ground where two matches will be played.
The first match will be played between AFFC and Morung United FC at 10:00 am, the second match between All Blacks and MRH Sunrisers at 12:00pm.
The Morning Football Association (MFA), the managing body of MPL invites all the denizens of Kohima and well wishers to come and witness the grand finale.
The Morning Football Association (MFA) also announced that after MPL2018, there will be another tournament called the Morning Champions Cup (MCC) which will commence on September 3rd.
MCC which is a group-knock out based tournament will see 10 teams vying for the title.
The 2 relegated teams of MPL can’t take part in the MCC.
The MFA reiterated that as two spots are left for new teams; interested teams are informed that registration forms will be available right after MPL concludes.
The last date for submission of registration form for Morning Champions Cup 2018 is on August 18.
MPL and MCC are organized by Morning Football Association (MFA). This one-of-a-kind tournament is played in the morning with “Health and Friendship” as its motto.
This tournament is only for retired players or players above the age of 30.
