Dimapur, Feb. 9 (EMN): A total of 70,489 kaccha houses (grass/thatch/bamboo/wood/mud), 1,75,023 kaccha house walls (only) and 78,266 kaccha roofs (only) have been completed in the rural areas of Nagaland as per Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
He stated that the identifications of beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) is based on the housing deprivation parameters and exclusion criteria prescribed under SECC-2011 and due verification by the respective Gram Sabhas and completion of an appellate process.
Under PMAY-G, the target of “Housing for All” by 2024 has been set at 2.95 crore houses, out of which 2,62,34,163 had been have allocated to the states and UTs from 2016-17 to 2021-22.
He informed that a total of 2,17,54,812 houses were sanctioned and 1,71,34,737 completed as on February 2, 2022.
He further mentioned that the ministry is taking various steps including timely allocation of targets to the states, micro monitoring of house sanction and completion using latest IT tools and technologies, separate review of states with high targets and sub-par performance, timely release of funds as per requirements of states, and others to increase the pace of house sanction and completion, and achievement of the targets by March 2024.
