The railway stations are being guarded by respective state police personnel and other security agencies, NF Railway spokesman P J Sharma said here. "The security of Guwahati Railway station is of paramount importance as it is the biggest station of the northeast with a footfall of 40,000, and more than 30 pairs of trains pass through daily," he said. A quick reaction team comprising fully-armed RPSF jawans along with RPF personnel are on shift duty at the station, Sharma said. Track patrolling in vulnerable stretches by motor trolleys, random frisking and anti-sabotage checks are also being carried out, he added.
