Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Childline: In commemoration of International Women’s Day, Sakhi – One Stop Centre, Dimapur, in collaboration with CHILDLINE, Dimapur organised a community awareness programme with the theme “Be Bold for Change,” for women and children on March 8 at Chettywary Colony, Westyard and Grace Colony, Dimapur.
During the campaign, centre administrator of Sakhi – One Stop Centre, briefed the gathering on the services provided by the Centre. She said the centre was an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child development was launched in Nagaland on June 2016. It provides free legal aid service, police assistance, medical support and psycho-social support to women affected by violence.
CHILDLINE Centre coordinator also shared on CHILDLINE 1098, a helpline outreach service (24 x 7) for children in need of care and protection. The services provided are emotional support and guidance, shelter, restoration, assists missing cases, abuse etc. She also mentioned that every human being has a right but Women and Children being more vulnerable the constitution of India has Created Legislation and Provisions to protect their rights. Therefore, she urged the women to come forward and avail the services.
Eloe Hoho Bhandari: Eloe Hoho Bhandari Town celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, at Bhandari Town Hall under the theme “Be bold for change”.
APRO Bhandari, Lily Ngullie, the theme speaker, said change for a better world for women all over the world may take place in a gradual process and may also face hurdles before achieving the set goal of planet 50-50 by the year 2030. But if ‘we’ are resolved in our commitment to pursue it, guided by a clear vision and prepared to overcome challenges for ourselves and our little girls, then a fair balanced world may not be too far away, she added.
She said there is no one who is as multi taxed as a woman in whom a daughter, a wife, a mother and a human being is all rolled into one.
She further stated that facing challenges gracefully, bearing responsibilities, making success stories of the lives of the people are just a little bit of what she does without a price. Therefore, she said that it is befitting to take time to salute and celebrate what she is worth.
The highlights of the celebration included song presentation by Baptist, Catholic and AG churches, skit presentation by Tsumang, Zuvodong and Medical colonies, standup comedy by GHSS colony and women wrestling show. The programme was chaired by Thungsali Odyuo, President, Bhandari Town Eloe Hoho.
