FGN: President of Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) Brig. (retired) S Singnya has expressed sadness over the loss of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak, vice chairman of NSCN/GPRN, who passed away on December 12 in New Delhi.
He recalled on how they embarked upon a common journey to fulfil the nation’s aspiration with much dynamism and vigour. Lamenting that God had called him home before they could realise those dreams, Singnya however affirmed that the vision they have set remained imperative to the common goal and added that his sacrifice for the nation would be appreciated by the generations to come.
“My friend is a wealth of information, history and foresight, and is admired for his values which underpinned his commitment to the nation’s service,” Singnya recalled.
He has prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
NSCN (K): NSCN (K) chairman and president, Lt. Gen. (retired) Khango Konyak, has bade farewell to Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak leaving to the divine will of God as he said ‘our lives have already been destined and guide by destiny even before we are conceived.’
In his farewell speech, Khango Konyak declared that Khole Konyak was his mentor, guide and elder brother who during his early years in the Naga freedom struggle had been instrumental in inspiring him to uphold the inherent rights of the Nagas against all odds.
On behalf of all the ranks and files of NSCN/GPRN, he has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
Rival NSCN (K) group stated that Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak has served the nation in various capacities during his illustrious military career spanning over five decades.
“From a humble private to the rank of commander-in-chief, he serves the Naga army with incredible spirit and unbending devotion,” stated MIP in-charge Maj. Joseph Lamkang. He added that his faithful service and contributions towards the Naga national struggle would be cherished for generations to come. It has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
NPCC: Condoling the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak, president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie has described him as a diehard in the political struggle who left behind comforts and family life all throughout his life for the noble causes. He lamented that he could not live to see the solution to the Naga political issue.
Therie added that his integrity would remain indelible in the history of Nagaland. The rank and file of the committee have conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
NPF: President of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu has expressed mourned the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak.
Liezietsu has termed as a loss at this crucial moment when the Naga political settlement is said to be at the final stage. “The NPF, from the very beginning of its inception, has been voicing for the honourable solution to the Naga Political problem with human approach, which is yet to be materialise,” stated Liezietsu.
He lamented that at the loss of Khole Konyak, who spent his whole life in the service of the nation with great expectation to see some happy ending for the Naga people, before seeing his dream for the Naga people.
“We believe that his sacrifice will not go in vain, but it will be an example to the Naga people to follow the footstep which our Naga leader has carried. May his soul rest in peace,” Liezietsu added.
Ao Senden has expressed sorrow on the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak, vice chairman of NSCN/GPRN. The organisation president, Chubawati Longchar, and the secretary, Imtipokyim, stated that Khole dedicated his entire life in the service of the Naga nation shouldering every responsibility, delivering his best. It added that his active participation for Naga reconciliation and unity would be ever remembered.
Ao Senden further conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty God to grant them solace at their darkest hour of grief.
Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has eulogised Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak as a sincere and dedicated Naga leader and lamented that his demise was a great loss to the Nagas and has created a huge vacuum as well.
Sharing pains and sorrows with the bereaved family members, CPO general secretary, Mutsivoyi Kotso, prayed that God Almighty would grant solace and comfort. It further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union (Densu), while mourning the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak, stated that he was one of the legendary national workers among the Eastern Nagas. The union vice president A Nathan Khiamniungan stated that his dedication to the Naga cause and the Indo-Naga peace talk would be remembered by all the Nagas.
The union, while conveying condolence to the bereaved family members, prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) has mourned the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak. The union president, Tenyebinlo Himb, has described him as a great leader and true patriot who worked tirelessly till his last breath by standing firm on his belief.
It stated that his dedication, sacrifice and legacy would always be remembered by the younger generations and continue inspire them. DRSU conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Diphupar Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), while mourning the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak, stated that his dedication and his invaluable rendered service for the cause of the Nagas would be remembered.
DNSU president N Pitovi Achumi and the general secretary Grizel Ngullie, along with their colleagues have shared grief at the irreparable loss and prayed that Almighty God would bestow endurance to the bereaved family in their hour of pain and grief.
Easter Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) lamented that Nagas have lost one of the tallest and most patriotic Naga leaders in the demise of Gen. (retired) Khole Konyak, who represented the voice and aspiration of every Nagas.
The association vice president, Aman Konyak, and the executive secretary Karmann Tak stated that his sacrifice for the freedom of Naga nation would always remain in the hearts of Nagas for generations to come.
ENSA, on behalf of Nagas living in Myanmar, conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty to grant strength and comfort to overcome the loss. It further prayed for departed soul to rest in peace.
