Mokokchung, May 12 (EMN): A number of likeminded citizens of Mopungchuket village in Mokokchung district has inaugurated a new society called the ‘Apular Society’ on May 11, in the village. The inaugural function had Commissioner-secretary Bendangkokba; elders of the Aotemolung Medemsanger Putu Menden of Mopungchuket and the Mopungchuket Baptist Church led by their pastor, among others. The newly inaugurated ‘Apular Society’ used to function as a "low profile charity body" under the name “Charity Mission Mopungchuket village” since January 2014, a press release from the organisers informed. "However, the charity mission was renamed Apular Society with the objective of furthering its mission works to all over Nagaland and is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860." Highlighting the background of Apular Society, Rev. Later, the “beneficiaries” increased to 22 of them, the updates stated. However, 11 of them have passed away over the years, the press release stated. The reverend also pronounced the dedicatory prayer for the Society. Officer Bendangkokba who was a patron of the charity since its inception, thanked the Putu Menden and the church for assisting it from the beginning till date. He sought for their prayers even further and for continued support as Apular Society begins its new chapter 'with a wider scope and context.' Bendangkokba also thanked 'Rev. Akang and Sakuchuba' for their contribution over the years, the press release stated. Saying that the world today is changing and at a rapid pace, he called upon the Putu Menden, the church, the society in general and the individual members of the community to keep abreast with the times and adapt to the changes. The officer also assured that Apular Society will continue with the charity works in the village as well as to facilitate 'transformative actions' even as it spreads its wings across Nagaland. Also, Bendangkokba recalled the humble beginnings of the society, the updates stated. The society was founded on the principles of the Biblical teachings on love, the press release stated. Representatives from the Putu Menden, the village council and the church also delivered short speeches at the inauguration, it was informed. The 11 surviving “beneficiaries” of the charity mission were also gifted with essential supplies as part of the event.
