Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has predicted monsoon rains in the state of Nagaland for four months, from June to September.
The agency issued a statement on Friday informing that the state was one of the few states to have witnessed the onset of monsoon during the first week of June. “With the onset of monsoon rains, on and off erratic nature of rains have already started over several parts of the state. In the coming days, Nagaland can expect moderate to heavy rains across many parts of state.”
According to the NSDMA's weather analysis, rains would mostly occur in the evenings and nights during the monsoon. Waxing and waning of the monsoon rains is considered to be normal. However, it was informed that the Northeast India region including Nagaland was most likely to record deficient rainfall this year according to the weather pattern analysis and forecast of the NSDMA. Weather models are indicating that the region is likely to have deficient rainfall by 10% to 15%, it informed.
