Dimapur, June 1: A new building for Wangkhao Government College in Mon town has been inaugurated. The director of Higher Education, I Alempokba, inaugurated the building on June 1.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Alempokba said, ‘it is a day to rejoice, a significant day, a significant month…there is a definite plan from the creator above as Jesus lived on Earth for around 33 years and the college has its new academic building after 33 years after its establishment.’
The official called upon the students, professors and landowners to work together, to nurture and to transform the institution to a ‘very high technical learning educational centre.’ Alempokba also urged the faculty to bring innovative ideas to enrich education and to create ‘new atmosphere so that no student will have a wish to study in other institution outside the district.’
Further, the director urged the gathering to strategize and set goals to achieve ‘hundred percent result’ to ‘transform the institution into a centre of excellent learning.’ The students need to be sincere and hardworking in their work though, Alempokba said. There is ‘no shortcut to success, but only hard work,’ he said. He has assured the people of Mon that ‘soon’ there will be science stream in Wangkhao Government College.
The college’s building was constructed under the SPA scheme for 2010-2011. W Atick Manpurhu was the contractor for the work. The contractor also donated 12 chairs for the staffers.
