Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The district election officer for Mon, Thavaseelan K, launched the Electors Verification Programme on September 1 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner in the presence of election officials.
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), gave updates on Monday informing about the programme.
Thavaseelan K, also the deputy commissioner, was stated to have highlighted the special summary revision of election roll and verification of electors which will be conducted from the 1st of September till the 15th of October 2019, the updates stated. This exercise shall be done using various IT tools such as the National Voters Services Portal, voters helpline apps and the 1950 Helpline, the IPR stated.
A live demonstration on the use of the associated apps was conducted at the event. The administrator was stated to have requested officials to do their work diligently so that the public of Mon district will benefit from the programme the IPR reported.
Draft list of polling stations
In another matter, Thavaseelan K has issued a press release informing that the draft list of polling stations has been published for a number of assembly constituencies (AC) in Mon district. They are 41st Tizit, 42nd Wakching, 43rd Tapi, 44th Phomching, 45th Tehok, 46th Mon town, 47th Aboi, 48th Moka and 55th Tobu.
The list can be read at the office of the deputy commissioner. The public are informed to verify and submit claims and objections, if any, on or before the 7th of September, the IPR added.
Night curfew extended along Indo-Myanmar border
The deputy commissioner of Mon has also issued an order referring to the night curfew from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am in the three km belt along the Indo-Myanmar border in Mon district. The enforcement of the order is extended for three months up to November 21 2019, updates stated.
