Dimapur, Jan. 12: The Mon unit of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has declared that it would “courteously face” the forthcoming elections to the urban local bodies in the state scheduled for February 1.
The unit issued a press release on Thursday informing that the “reaffirmation motion” was adopted during a meeting on January 12.
“The NPF, Mon division reaffirms to courteously face in principle to the notification of the Election Commission for the forthcoming election to urban local bodies in the state slated (for) February 1. The reaffirmation motion was adopted in meeting held in its office on 12th January 2017,” the unit stated.
The group’s leaders “in unison guaranteed to actively execute the task until the victorious conclusion” of the party’s candidates contesting the Tobu, Aboi, Naginimora and Tizit town councils.
The Mon division has congratulated the nine NPF candidates from Mon district who are contesting “without their opponents and probably declared elected as and when the process of voting is officially over.” The unit has wished the best to the other candidates of the party from the district as well as the entire state “who are in the fray and confidently face and produce optimistic win as desired.”
The Mon division has requested the governmental officials, the civic organisations, and law-enforcing agencies to “actively cooperate with the competent authority administering the election process.”
