Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): A two- day training on paper-bag making and community sensitisation on harmful effects of plastic use concluded on June 13 at Mon Town Council (MTC) hall. The training was organised by Mon district administration in collaboration with CAN Youth Dimapur.
IPR issued a press release updating about the training that was conducted.
Jenpu Rongmai, chief functionary of CAN Youth, was the team leader with Mary Konyak, Sentimongla Ozukum, Marina Rongmai and Khongten Chang as the trainers.
Haizu Meru, ADC and administrator of Mon Town Council, in his address to the trainees, stated that the government has recently banned the use of plastic in the State. He stated that paper-bag making training was organised as an alternative to plastics use and encouraged the trainee to train properly and start using paper bag in Mon district.
On the second day, Jenpu Rongmei, highlighted on the ill-effects of plastic use and encouraged the use of paper-bags.
President of KNSK, Lomei Konyak, stated that the use of paper bags is not only eco-friendly but it can also generate income for women. She thanked the district administration and CAN Youth for giving such opportunities to women.
Altogether 46 women were trained during the two-day training programme.
The district administration and CAN Youth would be organising similar training at ADC office in Aboi on June 14, ADC office in Tobu on June 17, ADC office in Tizit on June 19 and at ADC office in Naganimora on June 20.
