Dimapur, June 4 (EMN): A number of community leaders including former legislators from several electoral constituencies in Mokokchung district have declared their joining recently-formed political party, the Democratic Progressive Party.
A meeting of a group of like-minded persons and regional party workers of Mokokchung district was conducted on May 28 in Khensa village, under Mokokchung.
A press release appended by signatories Imtiyanger, session chairman; and Mangyangnungba, session secretary, was received here today. It also stated the names, understood to be those who declared to join said party.
The press release read: “The members dwelt at length on the prevailing political scenario of the state vis-a-vis the Indo-Naga political dialogue...and having seized of the yearning of the people for a new platform, a responsible dispensation to steer the helm of affairs of the state, conducive atmosphere for peace and progress, inclusive policy on development and equal representation.”
After thorough deliberation, the statement declared, the members adopted a single resolution: “Resolved and decided to join the Democratic Progressive Party en bloc to uphold the relevance of regionalism and appeals of nationalism.”
The note listed the following names. From 21 Tuli: Akuminba and Repameren; from 22 Arkakong: Imtiyanger and Sentimeren; from 23 Impur: Lipokyanger and Limasashi; from 24 Angetyongpong: Lipokyapang and Alemyanger; from 25 Mongoye: N Bendang Jamir and Meyisupong; from 26 Aonglenden: Lipokzulu and Tekametong; from 27 Mokokchung town: Mangyangnungba, Supongtoshi and Tsukjemwati; from 28 Koridong: B Meren Jamir, Pangerzulu, Pangerneken, Yashi Imchen, and Temjenyanger; from 29 Jangpetkong: Timujujang.
30 Alongtaki also was mentioned but there were no names corresponding to it.
