Mokokchung, Aug. 31 (EMN): A four-member team of the Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium (MEC) attended PackPlus 2019, an exhibition on packaging, converting and supply chain industries, during August 28-31 at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
An update from the group said that they interacted with the exhibitors to get an overview of latest products and trends in the industry as well as to establish business contacts.
The exhibition featured more than 400 national and international exhibitors showcasing new-to-market products, solutions and technologies from India and overseas representing a wide range of products and services related to packaging machines, materials and equipment, coding and marking solutions, converting, processing and supply chain, among others.
Some interesting highlights of PackPlus 2019 included live running machines, product launches and visitor-exhibitor matchmaking.
The statement informed that the MEC closed two deals during visited to the event. A deal with a leading paper bag making machine manufacturer in India and is expected to be installed and made operational before year-end in Mokokchung.
Another deal with a major player in the industry to procure paper cups and paper-plate making machineries, the statement announced.
They reasoned that the MEC decided to procure the machines with the objective of supporting the people of Mokokchung on their campaign against plastic pollution and to offer an alternative to single-use plastic disposables in the market.
They envisioned that with the installation and commissioning of the fully automatic paper and paper-allied product machineries, MEC expects to supply paper bags, cups and plates to Mokokchung and neighbouring districts of Tuensang, Zunheboto, Longleng and Wokha which will help mitigate the menace of single-use plastic pollution as well as open employment opportunities in the region.
The MEC’s visit to PackPlus 2019 was stated to have been fully self-sponsored without any assistance from the state government or any external agency.
