Mokokchung Police seize a massive haul of illegal Indian made foreign liquor and arrest two individuals near Kinunger village.

MOKOKCHUNG — The Mokokchung Police intercepted a consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and arrested two individuals in this connection on November 28.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the illicit transport of IMFL from Assam, a swift police operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO Mokokchung, Y Tumchobemo Yanthan, stopped a Tata Yodha pickup (Registration AS-02/DC-0436) near the approach road to Kinunger village at around 9:30 pm.

Upon thorough inspection, police uncovered a substantial cache of prohibited liquor concealed within the vehicle. The seized items included 6,240 bottles of 180 ml MC Rum, 840 bottles of 375 ml MC Rum, and 1,104 cans of Kingfisher-branded beer.
In connection with the seizure, the handyman and the owner of the consignment were apprehended. The duo has been identified as Arup Payeng (22), son of Anil Payeng, resident of Michinggaon Sonwal, under Mariani Police Station, Jorhat district, Assam, and Imkongnichet (31), son of Likazung, resident of Chungtia village, under Mokokchung Police Station-II, Mokokchung district.
A complaint has been lodged against the duo under Section 44(e) of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act. The case has been forwarded to the court for further legal proceedings.
