Mokokchung Police seize large IMFL consignment
Mokokchung Police recovered a total of 790 cases of illegal IMFL
- MOKOKCHUNG — In a crackdown on illegal liquor
transportation, Mokokchung Police intercepted an Ashok Leyland truck (B/R No.
AS26AC-1466) at Chuchuyimpang village on the national highway and seized a
large consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) on March 2.
- The vehicle, en route to Mokokchung town, was found to be
carrying a substantial quantity of illegal IMFL. During the inspection, the
police recovered a total of 790 cases of MC rum, including 72 cases of 750 ml
bottles, 80 cases of 375 ml bottles, and 638 cases of 180 ml bottles.
- The driver, handyman, and owner of the consignment were
promptly arrested. The individuals taken into custody have been identified as
Lensekhea (25 years), son of Shuven, a resident of Waphur, Mongsenbai ward,
Mokokchung; Utpal Das (31 years), son of Prahlad Das, a resident of Gondhmow
No. 1, Sualkuchi, Kamrup, Assam; and Jaychandra Hazarika (33 years), son of
late Jugen Hazarika, a resident of Mokrung Tea Estate, Golaghat, Assam.
- A complaint has been filed against the three accused under
Section 44 of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act for transporting
banned IMFL into Mokokchung Town. The case has been forwarded to court for
further legal proceedings.
