DIMAPUR — Mokokchung Police, during its routine checking, arrested one person identified as Lanutoshi (33) from Ungma village in possession of 09.27 gram of suspected brown sugar from Sumo stand at MMC complex on July 1.

A DIPR report stated that the police personnel conducted checking on seeing the accused person receiving a parcel from a Sumo driver. It added that the illegal drug was found concealed inside a plastic soap container.

The police, on further investigation, identified the supplier consequent upon which a search operation was conducted in Dimapur on July 5 and arrested two persons identified as Moameren Vmai (40) from Tonjoy Poumai village in Senapati and resident of Naga United Village, Chümoukedima, and Buni Throzho (47), allegedly a kilonser of NSCN (Niki) from Chingme Khullem village in Senapati, Manipur, and resident of Rangailong Colony in Burma Camp, Dimapur.

Report further stated that one .22 calibre pen pistol with six .22 calibre live rounds were recovered from their possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Mokokchung Police Station-I for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Mokokchung Police has requested the public for cooperation in combating the drugs menace. It cautioned that any person found indulging in drug abuse and drug trafficking would be sternly dealt with as per provision under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
