
MOKOKCHUNG — Zila Sainik Board, in collaboration with Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors’ Association (MVBDA), 12 Assam Rifles, Ex-Servicemen’s League Mokokchung (ESM League), ECHS Polyclinic Mokokchung and 25 Nagaland Battalion NCC, observed World Blood Donor’s Day by organising a blood donation camp at Hentry auditorium in Mokokchung town on Wednesday on the theme "Give blood plasma, share life often.’
The event was attended by Chumlamo Humtsoe, ADC and MMC administrator, and Major Zeeshan, regimental medical officer (RMO) of 12th Assam Rifles, as the special guests.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Speaking at the programme, Humtsoe stated that the act of donating blood showed oneness irrespective of cast, race and religion. He added that the act of donating blood to safe live has manifested the existence of humanity despite division, misunderstanding, chaos, bloodshed, and enmity in the world.
The special invitee, Major Zeeshan Ranshan, medical officer of 12 Assam Rifles, was of the opinion that not only the doctors save life but blood donors also play equal part in saving lives. He, therefore, encouraged the donors to actively participate in blood donation camp in order to save more lives.
Molo Jamir, president of Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donor's Association, stated that World Blood Donor’s Day focuses on the life-saving gift of voluntary donors. He reminded that June 14 is celebrated to raise awareness on the importance of blood donation and to recognise the contribution of voluntary unpaid blood donors in saving lives and improving health.

Jamir also asserted that this year’s theme “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often’ is to develop a strategy to highlight the need for timely access to safe blood.
He further declared that the Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donor's Association along with the ESM League and Zila Sainik Board, Mokokchung, has dedicated the whole month of June 2023 to increase awareness regarding the critical need of timely access to safe blood.
Lieutenant Colonel Joy Choundhury, retired secretary of Zila Sainik Board, Mokokchung, stated that the primary aim of the ESM League Mokokchung was to lead the way in giving back to society, to create awareness and build an atelic culture of regularly volunteering to donate blood among the people of Mokokchung. He added that the aim of the organisation was to collect and provide blood for critical patients, pregnant ladies and other who face difficulty, especially to manage rare blood groups in times of emergency.
A total of 20 units of blood was collected from voluntary donor during the blood donation camp held in Mokokchung and Tuli.
