Mokokchung, Dec. 4 (EMN): International Day of Person with Disabilities (PwDs) was observed on the theme “Empowering person with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality” at Town Hall, Mokokchung, on December 3.
Taliyanger, DRDA project officer, Mokokchung, was the special guest of the event. The programme was organised by Mokokchung District Legal Service Authority (MDLSA) and Care & Support Society (C&SS) in collaboration with Mokokchung District Disabled Forum (MDDF).
The special guest, in his address, appealed the people for inclusiveness of PwDs in all activities. He advised not to exclude PwDs for their disability but ensured their participation in every activity by providing platforms and make Nagaland an equitable society.
“Let them explored their talents and held them to overcome their problems,” Taliyanger implored.
He suggested the parents to use technology to their advantage. Taliyanger also lauded the Care & Support Society and Parent of PWDs for their proactive role to bring the PWDs together.
ABAM executive secretary Rev. Dr. Mar Astongchanger offered a special prayer for the PwDs.
Major Chandan of 44 Assam Rifles, AKM president Imkongwati and a representative from Mokokchung District Legal Service Authority spoke at the function.
Sapo, assistant director of C&SS, delivered the welcome note while significant of the day was pronounce by a representative from District Welfare Office and Arenli Jamir, CBR project coordinator for PwDs, said the vote of thanks.
Special items were also presented by PwDs during the programme. After the function, 44 Assam Rifles give away eight wheelchairs, 13 hearing Aids and 14 eye glasses to the disabled persons of Chungtia village.
