Overall champions of ONGC Inter School Badminton Championships, Town Higher secondary School with Ravi Lanka and MBDA officials at the indoor badminton stadium in Mokokchung on April 27.[/caption]
Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): Town Higher Secondary School was declared the overall champion of the 2nd Inter-school Badminton Championship organised by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) on April 27 at the indoor stadium in Mokokchung. The team champions were Jubilee Memorial School while the runners-up team was Town Higher Secondary school.
Deputy General Manager Ravi Lanka, Human Resources, ONGC, Jorhat who was present at the closing ceremony gave away the prizes and also delivered a short speech where he encouraged the youngsters to take up sports in a serious way. He said that there are scholarships for young people who excel in sports field and said that it would be encouraging to see Nagaland players come up in the sports field in a great way.
Principal of Queen Mary Hr. Sec School Rev. Father John also delivered a short speech during the closing ceremony. He talked about the importance of badminton as a game and said that youngsters can dream of becoming wealthy through sports. He appreciated the MDBA for organising the tournament and wished all the participants the best in their endeavours.
