Mokokchung, April 7
To standardize driving and certify motorists for driving courses, a school called the ‘Mokokchung Driving School’ was inaugurated on Tuesday by Lanuakum Ao, Regional Transport officer of Mokokchung district in the town.
The Mokokchung Driving School will be teaching driving on vehicles such as the Maruti Gypsy and Maruti 800. Learners will receive free admission and 10 per cent discount on training fee during April 7-8. Driving classes will be commencing from April 13.
Speaking during the launching of the driving school, Lanuakum Ao said that in India eight to nine persons meet accidents per minute due to reckless driving, influence of alcohol, or mechanical failure.To avoid such mishaps, he urged the trainers from the school to teach the importance of driving responsibly as well as teach them about the various acts for motorists and vehicles to the drivers.
He also lauded the proprietor of the school Yanger Namo for opening the driving school.
Lanuakum Ao also assured that department provide all possible cooperate to this driving school, such as issuing driving license to trainee who have undergone driving courses from this school.
Proprietor Yanger Namo spoke during the event. In his speech he said that the driving school was not ‘business-oriented but for the benefit of the people.’
He also thanked the governor of Odisa, Dr. SC Jamir and his wife for donating a Maruti Gypsy back in 2013, while he was planning to set up the school; Tsungtaluba Imchen and his wife for their support and guidance and all well-wishers who help him in his endeavor.
