Dimapur, August 28 (EMN): A 10-meter indoor shooting range with state of the art facilities was inaugurated today at Ladybird School, Mokokchung with the president of Mokokchung Press Club, Limalenden Longkumer as special guest in the presence of Nagaland Rifle Association officials led by its president Merang Jamir. Ladybird School, Mokokchung is the first school in Nagaland to have a shooting range.
The special guest while formally inaugurating the shooting range congratulated the school for successfully introducing the sport of shooting in the school and exuded hope that the facility would prove to be a boon for budding shooters.
Earlier, president of Nagaland Rifle Association, Merang Jamir while addressing the school students said that Nagas are traditionally good shooters and that with proper training and guidance, Naga shooters can compete with the best in the world. He also said that the “modern sport of shooting” offers immense opportunities for shooting enthusiasts shooting being an Olympic event. Citing his self as an example, who took up shooting as a profession at the age of 56 in the year 2012, said that there is amble scope for Nagas to excel in the shooting sport.
With the inauguration of the shooting range, there will be an air rifle and air pistol coaching camp and championship for the school’s students from August 28 to September 2, 2017 to be conducted under the supervision of professional experts.
Dedicatory prayer for the shooting range was pronounced by Rev.Temsu S, Pastor of Alempang Baptist Church.
