APEDA and the Horticulture department host a capacity building workshop in Mokokchung to promote agricultural exports.

DIMAPUR — A capacity-building programme for the export promotion of ginger, banana, and passion fruit of Nagaland was organised at the District Horticulture Office in Mokokchung on June 3.
The programme was organised by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) North Eastern Region, Regional Office Tripura, in collaboration with the District Horticulture Office, Mokokchung district.
According to an update, Tekasangla Ozukum, Horticulture Inspector, on the occasion highlighted the potential of harnessing the export potential of locally grown crops and encouraged farmers to explore avenues for expanding their markets through processing, value addition, and export.
A total of 73 participants attended the programme.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among stakeholders regarding the role of APEDA in exports, products under APEDA, agricultural export opportunities from the region, quality and packaging standards for exports, and documents required for export.

Joydev Roy, Business Development Manager, APEDA Regional Office, North Eastern Region, delivered a presentation covering the products under APEDA, its role in export promotion of agricultural produce, export documentation processes, and APEDA's financial assistance scheme. He also demonstrated Import Export Code (IEC) and Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) registration via the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) portal.
Dr. Keviletsu Khate interacted with the participants and spoke on pre- and post-harvest management for horticultural products, encouraging participants to explore avenues for expanding market reach through processing and export.
