DIMAPUR — The Department of Health & Family Welfare delivered a Power Point presentation on Nikshay Mitras, a key component of the TB Elimination Programme, at the monthly DPDB meeting held at the DC's conference hall on Friday.


DTO Mokokchung, Dr. Toshila Jamir, reported that there are 174 TB patients in the district and in need of Niksha Mitra support, a DIPR report stated.


According to Dr. Jamir, Niksha Mitra can be individuals, NGOs, co-operative societies, political parties, etc. A Mitra can adopt a TB patient and offer support for at least six months, assisting with any needs that arise during treatment.

Chairman of DPDB Mokokchung and MLA Nuklutoshi Longkumer, urged the members to come forward to adopt at least one TB patient. Longkumer also announced that he would adopt five TB patients, and Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma followed suit, declaring that he too would adopt five TB patients.


Answering to the query put up by the DPDB chairman regarding the situation in the border areas of Assam and Nagaland, Addl. Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Y Tumchobemo Yanthan, apprised the members about the initiatives and action taken by the district administration and the Police department and informed that status quo is being maintained and border issue was under control in the district.


The deputy commissioner asked the head of offices in the district to visit their subordinate offices in the block and subdivisions from time to time so as to build confidence, improve co-ordination and know the challenges being faced in the subordinate offices.


Verma also reminded the heads of offices that they would be required to submit annual reports on such activities in the future.


The agenda for financial and logistics assistance for the 25th Dr. T Ao Inter-District Championship 2026 was deliberated upon, with the DPDB chairman indicating that a detailed examination would precede outreach to departments and further action.


Constitution of verification committee for LADP 2025-2026 was informed by the district planning officer. Also, change of nomenclature of Rajeshwari Karina School, Tuli, to Royal Knight School, Tuli, was considered and forwarded to higher authority for approval.
