DC Ajit Kumar Verma constitutes a specialised sub-committee under Mokokchung District Skill Committee to bridge skill gaps and promote local livelihoods.
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, has issued a notification constituting a specialised sub-committee under the Mokokchung District Skill Committee to promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
According to the notification, which comes into force with immediate effect and will remain active until further orders, the newly formed body aims to foster local talent and economic self-reliance through the coordinated efforts of local stakeholders.
The sub-committee is convened by the additional deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, with Principal of Government ITI Mokokchung T Imlisunep Ao, serving as Member Secretary.
The members of the committee include Lipokonen Jamir (Joint Director of SARS and President of Mokokchung Ao Officers Telongjem); Dr. P Tiatemsu (Associate Professor at Fazl Ali College); the president of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang; the youth secretary of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang, Impur; Lanuakum (Deputy Chairperson of Mokokchung Municipal Council); a representative of Ao Lanur Telongjem, Lanusenla (principal of ICIT, Mokokchung); Lucy Lhousineino (District Employment Officer, Mokokchung); and the sub-divisional officer (Civil)/extra assistant commissioner (Development).
According to the official terms of reference, the sub-committee is tasked with identifying district-specific skill gaps and mapping out emerging livelihood opportunities that align with local economic potential. A central focus will be placed on promoting convergence among government departments, educational institutions, industry bodies, and community organisations.
The committee will focus on encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship, and market-ready vocational training, with a special focus on empowering youth and women, as well as preserving and commercialising traditional skills, local crafts, and indigenous knowledge.
To ensure progress and accountability, the sub-committee is mandated to meet at least once a month to evaluate ground realities, benchmark best practices, and deliver a monthly progress report directly to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner. With the chairperson’s approval, the committee also holds the authority to co-opt subject-matter experts and department representatives as special invitees.
