- MOKOKCHUNG — The
Mokokchung District GBs’ Association (MDGBA) held its quinquennial general
meeting at MDGBA Hall in Mokokchung town on Thursday.
- Vitolu, EAC of Mokokchung, who attended the meeting as the
guest of honour, commended the members for their dedicated service,
highlighting their crucial role as the first institution established before the
formation of the police and district administration. He emphasised their
authority in revenue collection, judiciary, executive matters and law and
order.
- Marsanen Imsong, president of Ao Senden, urged the GBs to
take an active role in addressing key issues such as the Nagaland political
solution and the preservation of Ao Naga culture and traditions. He also
acknowledged their impartial service, referring to them as “unpaid appointees”
who work selflessly for the community. He also emphasised the significance of
the GBs’ role in governance and cultural preservation, while reaffirming their
commitment to serving the community.
- The event saw the participation of 10 GB each from all the
ranges under Mokokchung district.
- During the meeting, the new office bearers for the 2025–2030
tenure were announced led by Along Jamir (GB of Tongdentsuyong Ward,
Mokokchung) as president, Imtisanen Sempo (GB of Chuchuyimpang) as vice
president, Imlitemsü (Penli Ward, Mokokchung) as general secretary, Temsutoshi
(Changtongya town) as assistant general secretary, Temjennungba (Yimyu Ward) as
finance secretary and Tsüktimongba (Tongdentsuyong Ward, Mokokchung) as
treasurer.
