Mokokchung: Mokokchung District Badminton Open Championship 2023 got underway with Jamonger Ao, assistant director of Food & Civil Supplies, Mokokchung, as the special guest in the opening ceremony held at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung, on Thursday.
The special guest in his address encouraged the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) to strive to inculcate professionalism and make an ecosystem where budding talents are shaped and up-skilled to perform at international level.
“Organisations should not limit themselves to obligatory tournaments,” he asserted.
Appreciating the efforts of MDBA in organising the tournament and supporting the development of sports in the district, he also encouraged the participants to use their God-gifted talents and exhibit them with discipline.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]President of MDBA, Martoshi, informed that selected players from the championship will undergo intensive coaching from where the final list of players to represent the district will be selected to participate in the upcoming Inter-District Badminton Championship scheduled to be held in Kohima.
In this championship, a total of 76 players are participating in 27 categories.
