Mokokchung Congress leaders resign en masse from party

DIMAPUR — Several office bearers and senior functionaries of the Indian National Congress (INC) from Mokokchung district have tendered their en masse resignation from party posts and primary membership, citing “continued mismanagement and autocratic functioning” of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) leadership.

In a resignation letter addressed to the President of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Tuesday, the signatories, including NPCC officials, District Congress Committee (DCC) office bearers, youth and mahila leaders, chairman of the Minority Department, chief organiser of Seva Dal, advisors, and active executive members from Mokokchung district, stated that they were resigning with immediate effect.

The leaders alleged that the decisions and actions of the NPCC leadership over the past few months had resulted in “widespread chaos, confusion and divisions” among party workers in the district.

They claimed that instead of strengthening the party organisation and upholding democratic principles, the leadership had ignored long-serving Congress workers, creating an atmosphere of mistrust and factionalism.

“The situation has severely weakened the party in the district, making it impossible for us to continue serving the people with dignity under the present dispensation,” the statement read.

Recalling their association with the party during difficult times, the leaders said they had remained committed to the ideals of the Congress even when the party was “on the verge of extinction in 2015.”

However, they stated that they could no longer remain “silent spectators” to what they described as the decline of the party organisation in Mokokchung district and the state.

The leaders concluded by announcing their resignation from all party posts, responsibilities, and primary membership of the Indian National Congress.
