Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) gave recognition to high school and higher secondary toppers, during a meeting of the board recently.
The board met on May 7. Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan presided over the meeting, updates stated.
The government's publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued on Thursday updates about the meeting.
According to the IPR, a programme for toppers from the district who ranked in the recently declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination results was initiated by the Officers Club of Mokokchung.
Altogether five toppers including three from the HSLC and two from the HSSLC were felicitated. They were presented with "certificates of appreciation" and cash by the deputy commissioner.
In a short speech, Soundararajan expressed happiness and satisfaction at the achievement of the students and complimented them for bringing laurels not only to their schools but to the district too.
In other matters, the board deliberated on the application for registration of two societies. The officials also had a discussion on the performance of students in the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC examinations in the district.
The Education department gave a report on the district's performance.
Basing on the report, the deputy commissioner directed the department to submit a 'status detail report' of schools that secured '60% below pass percentage' in the recent results, the IPR stated.
On matters of attendance and discipline in offices, the deputy commissioner directed heads of offices in the district to be in the station and to 'maintain strict staff attendance,' the IPR stated. The office heads are directed to send weekly attendance reports to his office every Friday starting from May 17.
