Kohima, June 5 (EMN): Deputy Chief Minister and BLP leader Y Patton said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Modi-led BJP government will resolve the much-delayed Naga political issue in a few years’ time.
Patton was speaking at the BJP Nagaland state unit’s NAMO 2.0 victory celebration at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow Kohima on June 5.
“The Naga political issue will surely be resolved during Prime Minister Modi-led BJP’s government. So, let us all pray for him,” said Patton. He also congratulated Modi on his victory for the second time.
The minister expressed confidence that NDPP-led PDA government will complete the full term (2018-2023) without any “crisis” and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the NDPP. He also appealed to all the Nagas to focus on strengthening the party instead of branding it as ‘anti-Christians.’
State BJP President and Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along, described Modi’s victory as “historic and momentous.” His victory had laid “rumours and presumptions” to rest, he said.
He stated the PM’s vision for the poor and progressive nation comprising of cultural and religious diversities has sealed the victory. While re-affirming his commitment to the PDA alliance, he said the PDA government is solely for the development of the state.
Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, who also spoke during the occasion, said that the people should ‘look back and see how the government has pulled off so far.’ Reminding the party members of their responsibilities, he said the duty of the party members is to reach out to the people at the grassroots level and not confront negatively.
BJP Nagaland Minority Morcha general secretary, Ankur Rai appealed to the BJP leaders to set up a State Minority Commission for the welfare and benefit of the minority communities. He also asked them to look into the affairs of the right of the minority communities of Nagaland as they are deprived of central schemes meant for them.
Several dignitaries, including Minister, PHED, Jacob Zhimomi; Kevechutso Doulo, chairman NEPED; Benjamin Yepthomi (president BJYM); Nini Cheng (president Mahila Morcha); Senkathung Jami (president Kisan Morcha); Seyiekhrielie Nagi (president Kohima district) and others spoke during the event, which was attended by party legislators, advisors, and party officials and members from all the districts of the state.
