Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released the 19th installment of the Pradhan
Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme wherein 9.8 crore farmers across
India, including from Nagaland, would avail the benefit.
- Over 9.8 farmers, including 2.41 crore female farmers across
the country, would receive direct financial assistance exceeding INR 22,000
crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) without involvement of any
middlemen, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare updated on Monday.
- It may be noted that a total of 2,1,931 farmers from
Nagaland have benefitted from the scheme, amounting to INR 620 crore directly
credited into their individual bank account as of November 2024.
- In the launching year (2018-2019), Nagaland received INR
5.55 crore, which has been increased significantly over the years.
- Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme aims to
supplement the financial needs of land-holding farmers. A financial benefit of
INR 6,000 annually is being transferred in three equal installments of INR
2,000 into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of farmers through DBT mode.
