DIMAPUR — Modern
College, Piphema, conducted its first green audit on Wednesday in collaboration
with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB). The event was organised by
the internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) of Modern College.
According to an update, four officials from the Nagaland
Pollution Control Board (NPCB) visited the campus to investigate its
initiatives for maintaining an eco-friendly and pollution-free environment.
Aghali A Swu, senior environmental engineer, was accompanied
by Kevisede Pucho, assistant environmental engineer; Moakumzuk Jamir, data
entry operator; and Sentinaro, senior scientific assistant.
The principal investigator of the botanical garden, Dr.
Dandesh Kumar, briefed the officials on endangered plant species, as well as
the practices of vermicomposting and water harvesting within the conserved
area.
The officials from the NPCB also visited the hostels and the
college cafeteria to observe waste management practices. Samples of both
filtered and unfiltered water were collected for testing. Additionally, an air
quality check is currently underway on the campus.
