Two Modern College students represent Nagaland at a national Prime Minister Internship Scheme consultation in New Delhi.
DIMAPUR — Two students from Modern College, Kohima, represented Nagaland at a national-level consultative meeting on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) in New Delhi on September 4.
The consultation, organised by UNICEF YuWaah, was held at its office at 73 Lodi Estate, New Delhi, according to an update.
The event brought together young people from across India, along with officials from UNICEF YuWaah and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, to discuss and provide youth perspectives on the design and implementation of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme.
The scheme aims to provide young people with meaningful, real-world work experience and greater exposure to professional environments. The national consultation sought to place young people at the centre of the discussion by understanding their perspectives, expectations, and concerns regarding the scheme.
Representatives between the ages of 19 and 25 participated in the day-long consultation. Discussions focused on key aspects of the scheme, including the duration of internships, stipends, age eligibility, modes of internship, accessibility, and the overall internship experience.

A significant part of the deliberations centred on the availability and accessibility of internship opportunities for young people in rural, remote, and underserved regions. Participants discussed the need to ensure that students and youth from geographically remote areas are able to access and benefit from internship opportunities on an equitable basis.
It was stated that the participation of the two students from Modern College provided an opportunity for the concerns and perspectives of youth from Nagaland and the Northeast to be brought to a national platform.
