Dimapur, April 16 (EMN): Modern College organised its first convocation programme for B.Voc. in Retail Management & IT (Sales Associate- NSQF Level -4) on April 12, with President of KCCI, Jabou Sekhose as special guest.
B.Voc (Bachelor of Vocation) is a regular 3 years degree course under UGC (University Grants Commission of India).
It is a new initiative of Government of India to align higher education with the emerging needs of the economy so as to ensure that the graduates of higher education system have adequate knowledge and skills for employment and entrepreneurship. It is a course where more importance is given to practical education than the customary theoretical education.
On the occasion, Pelee Hekha, managing director stressed on how educational system from knowledge based must shift to skill based.
A brief report on the course was highlighted by John Besii, coordinator. Certificates were given away by the special guest in the presence of parents, guardians, well wishers, teachers and students.
Earlier, Younus Parvez, assistant professor delivered welcome address while special song was presented by Arenchilla of Class 12 Science. The programme was compered by W. Anyile Riste.
