- DIMAPUR — Modern
College hosted an Open 10K Mini Marathon as part of Modern Week 2025, promoting
health, fitness, and community engagement under the motto "Run for good
health” on Tuesday.
- According to an update, the event saw participation from the
community, students, and faculty members.
- The marathon, which took place from 7 am to 9 am, featured
two race categories: 10K for men and 6K for women. The designated route
stretched from Dairy Farm Point (Modern College, Piphema) to Cultural Hall,
Piphema (A), and back to Dairy Farm Point. A total of 76 participants took part
in it.
- RV Philip, second-in-command, 78 BN CRPF, attended the event
as the special guest. Wetshote Thopi served as the chairperson.
- In the men’s 10K category, Thotngacheirin secured first
place and received INR 15,000, followed by Shiangjiu T Khiamniungam in second
place with INR 10,000, and H Ngaopulon in third place with INR 5,000. In the
women’s 6K category, Songmo P claimed first place and won INR 10,000, with
Niansi T finishing second and receiving INR 7,000, while Peiheiteilie secured
third place with INR 5,000.
- Panasonic Life Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Nilkamal Furnitures,
Saricom, Nagaland Electrical and Housing, and Kapfo Stores were the event
sponsors. RV Philip, the special guest, also assisted in providing an ambulance
as well as medical assistance for the smooth conduct of the event.
- Following the mini marathon event, Modern College is set to
host a range of literary and cultural events and a sports meet during its
Modern Week, which will be held from February 11 to the 15th.
- The literary day events will feature a quiz competition,
poetry slam, and solo, duet, and quartet singing competitions. Cultural day
celebrations will highlight a folk song competition, an ethnic fusion show, and
traditional games competitions, including the fox and hen race, traditional
fire saw, human centipede, five stone, war cry, and pork/snail eating.
