Modern College Piphema wraps up Modern Week 2026 with marathon, literary, cultural and sports events.

DIMAPUR — Modern College, Piphema, concluded its Modern Week 2026 on February 14, marking the end of a week-long celebration of literature, culture and sports.
Held on the theme “Archaic Modern,” the event showcased the spirit of camaraderie, talent, and tradition among students and faculty, an update from the college stated.
The Modern Week 2026 kicked off with a 10k open mini marathon on February 10, which was flagged off by Lt. Col. Sanjeev Kumar, 78 BN CRPF, Zubza.
The week-long celebration also featured three key events: literary day on February 10, cultural day on February 11, and the sports meet from February 12 to the 14th.

The activities culminated with a closing ceremony held at the college’s indoor stadium.
The literary day highlighted creativity through story writing, poetry slam, quiz competitions, and painting, fostering an appreciation for literary and artistic expression.
The cultural day revived indigenous traditions with folk songs and dance, traditional fire saw making, go-kart races, war cry performances, and other engaging activities, showcasing the college’s respect for its cultural roots.
The sports meet ignited the competitive spirit, with students participating in football, volleyball, basketball, javelin and discus throw, badminton, board games and track events.
Rokozetuo Kuotsu, sports secretary of MCSU, officially declared the champions. In this year’s edition, Blue House emerged as the overall champion with 1,520 points, followed by Red House with 1,475 points. Green House secured 940 points, while Yellow House finished with 740 points.
The programme concluded with words of gratitude from Roshan Chettri, Assistant sports secretary.
“The entire Modern Week 2026 was a testament to the dedication of the organisers, the unwavering enthusiasm of the participants, and the team spirit of Modern College.
“The institution looks forward to continuing this tradition in the coming years, encouraging excellence in academics, culture, and sports,” the update stated.
