Dimapur, May 23 (EMN): Model Colony Council (MCC) has to appealed the State Public Work department (NPWD) to direct the concerned contractor to build a culvert within seven days failing which it warned to take its own course of action.
In a representation to the Executive Engineer of NPWD (R&B), the MCC chairman, David Zhimo, and the secretary, K Boheto Chophy, stated that a culvert at Lane No. 6 near Zion Hospital was demolished on May 14 thereby cutting off all traffic movements for the purpose of providing new culvert.
The council claimed that the demolition of culvert has affected daily normal activities especially to the school going children as they have to walk extra distance since school buses cannot traverse its usual route.
Considering the gravity of the said situation, the council held an emergency executive council meeting on May 22 and resolved to apprise the concerned department to inform the contractor to complete/ construct the culvert for convenience within seven days from the publication of this notification.
The council, therefore, urged the Executive Engineer of NPWD (R&B) to direct the concerned contractor to take necessary action.
