Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): Model colony council (MCC) has informed all its residents to clean the drainage in their respective compound/ allotted site whenever necessary and keep their surroundings clean.
While it supports and encourages green environment, the council however stated that trees and plants should not in any way obstruct the nullah, roads, and electric wire/poles.
“Therefore every tree and plant should be cleaned within its perimeter including other materials. Defaulters will be monitored accordingly and action will be taken as per resolved by the council,” warned the council chairman David Zhimomi, GB Vikuto Wotsa, and secretary Er. K Boheto Chophy.
In a separate notice, the council has directed all shopkeepers to maintain proper use of dustbin and regularly clean their surrounding area. It stated that the council’s action committee would monitor hygienic practices in all food joints/ shops (butchers) especially in bakeries and hotels to maintain health and preventing diseases.
The council also cautioned that selling of items at exorbitant rates would be penalised as resolved by the majority council members.
The council, in its emergency meeting on August 27, resolved to strictly monitor its areas and restrict unauthorised fishing at government fish farm (FFDA). It warned that anyone found fishing and violating the notice would be penalised accordingly.
The house also resolved to apprise the concerned head of the department of fisheries to construct proper security fencing, maintain proper water outlet from the present stagnant water to prevent outbreak of environmental hazard.
Meanwhile, the council has convened a general meeting in the residence of its chairman on September 7 at 4 pm. All the public of model colony including tenants (young and old) are requested to attend the meeting without fail. It added that absentees would be recorded and marked for necessary action.
