Dimapur, Dec. 20: To spread awareness to the citizens and enable them equip themselves with preventive measures in time of disaster, Wokha District Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with all the nodal agencies of the district conducted a mock drill on December 20.
The drill was conducted in three locations in Wokha town. In NST Colony, mock drill was conducted on secondary fire incident, while at Police Point drill was conducted on high-rise building collapse caused by earthquake and at PWD Colony on construction building collapse.
Besides conducting rescue and operation works in all the three sites, practical demonstrations were shown to the public as to how injured people, victims draped in the building and casualties are evacuated during any eventualities. The mock drill ended with debriefing of all the participants involved where feedback and suggestion were raised by the members.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner thanked all members and volunteers from Lotha Youth Hoho for their co-operation and support for making the mock drill a success. He also thanked the public for turning out in large numbers to witness the mock drill.
The DC expressed confidence that with collective effort and participation, “We are ready to face any kind of eventualities.” He further called for cooperation so that prompt action can be initiated to save the lives of victims during disaster. He also mentioned the shortage of equipments in the district for utilisation during such emergencies.
