District ASHA Trainers on “Mobilising for Action on Violence against Women” by the National Health Rural Mission is being conducted from July 15 to 19 at the Jubilee Memorial Centre (JMC), Kohima. The training is the 3rd round of Training of Trainers on Modules 6 & 7. Altogether 64 trainees from all 11 districts are participating in the training. The trainees comprise ANM, GNMs, LHVs and Block ASHA coordinators.
The sessions consist presentations, group works and experience sharings. Topics include ‘Understanding Gender’, ‘Understanding Patriachy’, ‘Cycle and Matrix of Violence’, ‘Identifying women who are vulnerable to violence and signs and symptoms of violence’, ‘Consequences of violence against women’, ‘Intervention in case of violence against women- case studies’ and ‘Legal measures to prevent violence against women’.
Various other topics on vertical programmes like Malaria, TB, Malnutrition, RTI/ STI, ARSH/ SHP, Immunisation, MCTS/ USSD, Clubfoot and IEC/ BCC etc are also being taken up by respective Programme Officers. The resource persons for the 5-day training are Puni Kokho, State Facilitator (RRC-NE, NHM), Rajesh Monsang (RRC-NE, NHM) and Lily Mozhui, GNM, Wokha. The District ASHA trainers will be training the 1887 ASHAs of Nagaland at the block levels.
