Dimapur, July 7 (EMN): Member of Legislative Assembly, Moatoshi Longkumer, today said what differentiates the church from other charitable or social organisations was that the church was in the “Jesus business.”
The MLA, who inaugurated the Yodh-Beth International Ministry, here at Duncan Bosti on Thursday, stated that any organisation can do charity works adding there are many organisations involved in charity works.
Longkumer, therefore, urged the Yodh-Beth International Ministry to carefully plan its mission outreach programme to make it more “relational and impactful.”
He said that a fruitful Christ-centered and grace-filled outreach ministry is not only about “what we do for our people but most importantly it should be about spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.”
While small and midsize churches may never be able to compete with mega churches, in diversity and in quality of programmes, Longkumer said that what matters in the long run is the “relation” as programmes and buildings don't make disciples but that God uses disciples to make disciples.
He encouraged the Yodh Beth International Ministry congregation to focus on one key ministry area where they can make a “God-size impact instead of taking up multiple curriculums.”
To supplement his point, Longkumer quoted activist Yoko Ono’s comment “a dream you dream is just a dream, a dream your dream together is a reality.”
Founder and CEO of YBIM, Dr. Yanthungrhomo Mozhui, in his introductory address, said the ministry provides training and working with youth within and beyond North East and helping them in various capacities and also conducting international programmes for the youth.
Board chairman of YBIM, Dr. Roland Lotha, said Yodh-Beth Ministry is a holistic ministry as the Yodh-Beth International Ministry would be providing holistic transformation to young people and disadvantage community by offering various training in order to equip and engage them in effective leadership and exposure in life changing innovation.
Lotha also stressed on serving the marginalized people and making them assets to the state and not liabilities.
The programme was chaired by Esther Ezung Kikon, while the dedicatory prayer was offered by senior pastor of LBCD, Rev. Zanao Mozhui. Short speech was also delivered by Board member of YBIM, Rev. Dr. Jaideep Jesudoss.
