- DIMAPUR — The
National Innovation Foundation (NIF) celebrated its silver jubilee on March 1
and 2 at Vigyan Bhavan, Science City, Ahmedabad. During the event, Moa Subong
from Nagaland spoke about his innovation, the Bamhum, in a session where 11
innovators from across India presented on the topic of "Transforming ideas
into solutions”.
- A press statement from Subong mentioned that NIF is an
autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology,
Government of India.
- Later, during the cultural programme, Arenla and Moa of
Abiogenesis enthralled the audience with three songs, showcasing the unique
sounds of the Bamhum and Tikzik.
- The valedictory function on March 2 featured an address by
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of Science and Technology, who joined the
jubilee celebration via virtual mode.
- He emphasised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of
"Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi," highlighting the fusion of India’s rich
traditional knowledge with modern technology. As part of the celebration, Dr.
Singh released a postal stamp, a magazine titled ‘Innovation Frontline’, and a
coffee table book.
- During the event, eight Padma Shri awardees were
felicitated. Of the eight, four awardees, including Subong, were invited to
briefly share their experiences. The function was also attended by Jagadish
Vishwakarma, Minister of MSME, Government of Gujarat, as the guest of honour.
