In the backdrop of Meghalaya's official bid to host the National Games 2022, Governor V Shanmuganathan today said the state would upscale investment in sports to host such mega sporting events in the future, a month after successfully co-hosting the 12th South Asian Games.
"Building on the positive momentum achieved, my government will further upscale investment in the domain of sports to achieve higher visibility and meaningful outcome," Shanmuganathan said while addressing the Budget session of the state assembly.The state successfully hosted 7 disciplines of the recently concluded 12th South Asian Games in which over 800 athletes and officials from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan Sri Lanka and India participated.
