- DIMAPUR — Member
of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA), A Pongshi Phom, has challenged the
younger generation to seek quality education and also bring laurels by
achieving in central competitive examinations.
- Pongshi stated this during the inaugural programme of 72nd
general conference and games and sports meet of Phom Laivangh Pangthai (PLP)
held at Bautung Memorial Hall in Longleng town on January 13 as the special
guest. Admitting that the Phom community has seen rapid change in every sphere
of life, he however pointed out that they are still lagging behind with other
tribes in many aspects.
- He also stressed the need to find one’s gift and utilise it
for greater purpose.
- Speeches were also delivered by N Dape Phom, president of
Phom Laivangh Pangthai (PLP); YB Angam Phom, president of Phom Peoples’ Council
(PPC) and Ainyu Phom, president of Phomla Hoichem.
- Inaugurating the games and sports meet, the deputy
commissioner (DC) of Longleng, W Manpai Phom, stated that education is not only
about being successful in academics but also all round development of an
individual. He stated that such event is an opportunity for students to
showcase their talents in various fields as people are born with different
gifts.
- He called upon the students to make proper use of such
opportunity and explore their talents and bring laurels to the community at
large.

- PSC holds general conference
- The introductory programme of Phom Students’ Conference
(PSC) 72nd general conference was held at Bautung Memorial Hall in Longleng
town on January 13 with S Toshi Angh, executive engineer of PWD (R&B) as
the introductory guest.
- In his speech, Angh recalled the dreams and visions of the
founding fathers of PSC and urged the students to be sincere in their studies
and other co-curricular activities.
