Longon attended the closing ceremony of the Khaozaosie Hok-Ah, a festival of
feast and rest, held at Thonoknyu town on January 22.
- According to a DIPR report, speaking on the occasion, Longon
described Khaozaosie Hok-Ah as not only a time for feasting and rest but also
an occasion for forgiveness and peace.
- He emphasised the festival's role in strengthening communal
harmony and fostering unity among people.
- Addressing the students present at the event, Longon
encouraged them to work diligently in all walks of life. He reminded them of
the importance of education and perseverance in achieving both personal and
collective growth.
- As the community progresses alongside the rest of the world
in modernisation, Longon urged the people to remain deeply rooted in their
culture and traditions.
- The Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang, who was
to be the guest of honour, was unable to attend.
- He, however, sent a message to the Khiamniungan community,
extending his warmest and sincerest Khaozaosie Hok-Ah greetings, and expressed
regret for his absence.
- The deputy CM stated that Nagaland is aptly referred to as
the "land of festivals" because various tribes celebrate one festival
or another each month of the year. He emphasised that each tribe's festival
holds distinct significance and tells a unique story, which has been
beautifully passed down through generations.
- He expressed that everyone should celebrate the festival in
its truest sense. He hoped that the festival would strengthen the bond of
brotherhood in every home and bring peace and harmony to all.
- During the celebration, the 4th Handicraft Festival was also
held with grandeur, showcasing the region's rich cultural heritage and
craftsmanship. This event provided a platform for local artisans to display
their skills and creativity.
