MLA Kayisü assists landslide affected villagers in Manipur

Kangpokpi, June 7 (EMN): Manipur continues to suffer from the aftermath of Cyclone Mora. More than 11 houses were completely damaged by the recent landslide and subsequent cracks and around 20 hectares of paddy fields were destroyed at Kalikhola village located along the IT-Makuli- Kalapahar Road under Tadubi Assembly Constituency, Senapati district Manipur. Residents of the affected houses have been evacuated and are staying at the temporary relief camp at Toribari, reports said. Kangpokpi DC T Ranjit appealed the villagers not to move around the affected areas and not stay inside the vulnerable houses which are yet to be affected by the landslide. Though there is difficulty in providing necessary relief materials and other facilities, he assured any logistic support from the side of the district administration. Tribal Affairs & Hills Minister and local MLA N Kayisii visited the landslide, crack affected village and temporary relief camp along with C Kangpokpi Ranjit and Joint Director, Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills Kaikho Mao on Tuesday. Sharing his grief with the affected victims, Minister assured maximum help for the affected villagers from his side. He appreciated the village authority and DC for their co-operation and support towards the victims. He directed DC put up a report of the affected village at the earliest so that he can consult with the Chief Minister for proper rehabilitation of the villagers. Kayisii donated Rs. 3 lakh to the Village Chairman of Kalikhola for temporary relief affected victims. Relief materials including water, rice, potato, dal, oil, salt, utensils, blankets, etc, were also handed over to the affected villagers during his visit. In another incident it was reported that Sirarakhong village, a popular village in Ukhrul district which is famous for its chilli production also recently witnessed a massive landslides affecting many families.
