Mokokchung, April 5 (EMN): A 27 member contingent representing Mokokchung District Veteran Football Association (MDVFA) led by 62 years old Temjen as captain will depart today to participate in the Nagaland Veteran Football Tournament 2017 at Phek. The tournament is scheduled to start from April 7 onwards.
MDVFA contingent comprising of coaches, managers and players were visited by Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) at their holding camp at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on April 5.
During the interactive sessions, MTLT president Imkummeren shared the aspiration of the youths and expectation from veteran footballers, who are the role models for the upcoming footballers in the District.
While expressing his hope that veterans will once again bring laurels to the District and said that values and sportsmanship spirit they exhibit will truly impact positively among the upcoming footballers.
The District Youth Resource officer (DYRO) of Mokokchung K Libemo Jami also spoke at the event. He stated that sport is a very powerful tool that can bring different people together into one.
MDVFA which was formed eight years back since its inception has brought momentous achievements for the District in the tournaments they have participated. MDVFA are the runners-up of last year’s Nagaland Veteran Football Tournament. MDVFA have also won the Nagaland Veteran Football Tournament champion three times and emerged as runners-up a couple of time according to MDVFA officials.
